For the competition, I prepared this animation which explores Uttarakhand's vulnerability to disasters. Uttarakhand is an Indian state, it’s where I live. It’s part of the Himalayas. And it’s also where a lot of disasters happen, like landslides, flash floods. Growing up and seeing these frequent calamities happen so close to me inspired me to take a look at what’s happening (natural and man-made risks).

My main goal was to demystify disasters, as some people still assume disasters are natural, an act of god,  and that there’s nothing we can do. But that’s not true. As an aspiring young planner, I wanted to make people aware of various interventions, nature based solutions we can do to reduce disaster risk.
